My kind of Amazing Race

Nick and I have talked how much we’d like to do the Amazing Race for several seasons now.  When we watch an episode I find myself telling the contestants what they should have done to prevent them from getting into their current mess.  ”call ahead for your reservation using the cab driver’s phone” ” don’t actually become their friends!” “why on earth would you choose that detour?!”  It’s the only show we are allowed to discuss while it’s on (in our home we mute commercials to discuss so as not to miss anything important) because we could OBVIOUSLY do much better than them!

However, we’ve agreed I could not be his team mate as I’d slow him down considerably.  I’m not strong enough for the challenges and I’d get crabby really fast from sleep deprivation.  He’s chosen his friend Micha who’s in the armed forces and once worked for the Minneapolis SWAT team to compete with him.  Between the two of them and their 4 languages, he feels they’d be unbeatable.  Recently he thought perhaps his friend Dave would be a good fit since he’s not afraid to look stupid (Nick is) and since he’s funny the girls would like him.  Of course they’d not actually form alliances with anyone, they’d stab them in the back – whatever it takes to win baby!

I’d have to find my own partner, which just isn’t the same as a life changing adventure around the world with the love of your life.  But I’ve found the solution… (more…)
