2010
// January 2nd, 2010 // Rachel, The Grays
last year we welcomed mariah into our family, traveled to italy and virginia, nick’s blog took off, i made the difficult transition to be a working mom, and we shared so many joyful moments together as a family. it was a wonderful and life changing year.
what lies ahead for the gray family in 2010? any life changing circumstances this year? what i do know is that we’ll celebrate 5 years of marriage. nick will travel for his blog. i may start my own photography business.
the resolutions i set are actually goals. and since i teach my students how to write effective goals, i made sure these meet the same “requirements” i set for them. dated, achievable, positive, personal and specific. i wrote them all down in my new moleskine notebook the other day. some are to challenge me to be creative and smart, others are for my mental health, and others help me feel good about myself.
read my bible daily – 5-10 minutes
workout 3x/week
bake 1x/month
read a book 1x/month
blog 3x/week
paint my nails 2x/month
take a bubble bath 1x/month
and my really vague one: to think and speak more positively. this includes uplifting others and finding the positives in everyday situations.
lots of small little goals, but i feel each are reasonable and achievable for me. considering i didn’t have any last year, i kind of need to make up for lost time.
when i asked nick what his goals were, he said, “to make a million dollars”. i had to teach him how to write an effective goal. he then changed his to “be able to do 25 pull ups in a row by the end of the year” sounds good to me. good thing he got a pull up bar for christmas.

Great stuff…I don’t usually do the “New Year’s Resolution” thing, but I like the idea of setting goals. I think I’m inspired to set some of my own. Happy new year to you guys!
